Our history
The story of our firm, Joyce Roysen Advogados, began 30 years ago on the basis of a pioneering concept: always seeking the most effective solutions, even if they are outside the traditional activities of criminal law. This is why, since the firm was founded, we have included criminal compliance and ESG concepts in our work, making litigation always a last resort.
When litigation is necessary, discretion is one of our primary assets. We have made confidentiality and secrecy the cornerstone of our work. Based on this, we actively endeavor to protect our clients’ image, avoiding any unnecessary exposure, which could cause irreparable harm.
In this way, we establish a bond of trust, credibility and respect in every case in which we work. Today, this bond has become a trademark of Joyce Roysen Advogados and an unbreakable commitment to our clients.
In addition to being lawyers, our team at Joyce Roysen Advogados serves as part of our clients’ institutional memory. We have been serving some clients for over 25 years without interruption.
We are very proud of our thirty years of history, innovations and achievements, and of our team. And most of all, we are proud of the relationship of trust and excellence we have established with the market, our partners and our clients.
Joyce Roysen Advogados was founded as a law firm focused on advising in the criminal law area for the financial market and large companies. From the beginning, our firm has been pioneering, both for working in the area that would come to be known as economic criminal law, and for being led by one of the first women to stand out in the criminal law area.
Our firm’s first office was located on Faria Lima Avenue, the heart of the Brazilian financial industry. This contrasted with the best-known firms at the time, which were mostly located in downtown São Paulo.
1993Joyce Roysen became a member of the Brazilian section of the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP).
1994Joyce Roysen is interviewed by the magazine Exame São Paulo on the subject “Legal Eagles,” in which she discusses the evolution of the corporate market and the subject of female lawyers leading large law firms.
The firm begins its tradition of sending its clients and colleagues Christmas cards prepared with a special message, seeking to sum up their feelings for the coming year. Over the years, this has become a tradition in the Brazilian legal industry.
